The Winneba Municipal Hospital was opened in 1929 with only 4 blocks serving as OPD, Administration, Consulting Rooms and Recovery Ward. In course of time, it was upgraded to a polyclinic and then a Hospital to serve the people of Awutu Senya district and adjoining districts. The Hospital is still located at its original site and now found in the centre of the Winneba Township. The facility which previously used to be a referral centre for Awutu Effutu Senya Districts and its adjourning districts in the Central Region of Ghana now serve only the Effutu Municipality due to Government Decentralization Policy. The strategic location and the tolerable nature of the road network in the Municipality make the facility highly accessible to adjourning districts that shares boundary with the Municipality, such as Effutu, Gomoa West, Awutu Senya East, Gomoa Central, Agona West districts etc.
“Providing a comprehensive, accessible and high quality care which is client centered, delivered by highly motivated and highly trained staff working harmonously as a team”.
“To Become a Hospital of Choice”,
(Offering Clinical and Non-Clinical Services with best practices and innovation to the people of Effutu and beyond).
